Describe your journey to AMCL.

I joined AMCL in 2019 through their Graduate Program in the UK. The program provided me with a diverse range of experiences and training across various projects and sectors, with a focus on Asset Management governance and maturity. Since then, I’ve had opportunities to advance my career and even relocate with AMCL from the UK to Canada.

What project(s) are you currently working on?

As AMCL’s Project Manager at Pearson Airport, I am responsible for program delivery and embedding strong Asset Management practices as a standard part of operations. My role supports Pearson’s vision of “putting the joy back into travel” by making Toronto Pearson the preferred place to fly and work.

Pearson is currently undertaking a significant program of work that will impact the Asset Management system across the organization. This encompasses a broad range of initiatives, from traditional Asset Management projects to collaborative, cross-functional efforts. Being part of such a large and complex transformation has been exciting and meaningful.

Our work is both challenging and rewarding, blending organizational alignment and purpose with creativity and innovation. Our stakeholders are highly supportive, embracing the Asset Management vision and the value it brings to the organization.

What challenges do you see facing when it comes to managing Toronto Pearson’s assets?

The culture at Toronto Pearson is outstanding. We work in a fast-paced environment with shared goals, strong relationships, and complex interdependencies. While driving opportunities, change, and integration can be challenging, the effort is always worth the reward.

How are you supporting clients and what are the most common pitfalls you see?

Our experience and skills are continually put to the test, requiring us to apply the right resources at the right time. True to the principles of Asset Management, we engage across all levels and functions, with a strong focus on program management, governance, decision-making, risk, finance, organizational design, and competency development.

A common pitfall I see in organizations is the tendency to focus on ‘managing assets’ rather than embracing true Asset Management. This narrower approach often limits an organization’s ability to respond dynamically and proactively. When in this ‘managing assets’ mindset, effectively allocating time and resources to progress toward a more mature Asset Management strategy becomes challenging. I believe AMCL’s approach, which provides organizations with a broader context, is uniquely valuable in helping prioritize actions that align with their long-term goals.

What is something fun and/or interesting about you that your colleagues may not know?

I had the opportunity to move from the UK to Canada with AMCL a year ago and have loved the ability to explore in a new place and see Canada’s famous natural beauty and wildlife. A particular highlight was seeing a several pods of orcas in the wild which are one of my favorite animals!
