Women’s History Month Hygiene Drive

Following the success of the Team TLC backpack drive last Fall, AMCL and Turner & Townsend partnered together once again to coordinate a feminine hygiene drive in recognition of Women’s History Month.

Representatives from both teams, Kayleigh Watson & Gabriella Zapata, connected with Henry Street Settlement – a non-profit agency that provides social services, art programs, and health care services to Lower East Side residents and other New Yorkers of all ages – to see what their needs were and how they could help.

Throughout the month of March, AMCL North America & T&T NY colleagues had the opportunity to donate hygiene and self-care products, as well as employment appropriate clothing for women and families in need. The drive concluded on March 28th with a kit packing event in the New York office, and a representative from Henry Street Settlement joined to speak with the team about their organization’s history and who the feminine hygiene kits would be impacting.

Together, AMCL and Turner & Townsend exceeded their donation goal and packed a total of 50 feminine hygiene kits filled with essentials like pads, tampons, soap, socks, etc. In addition to the kits, they also collected 3 bags of clothing and a variety of extra self-care items, all to be distributed throughout Henry Street Settlement’s supportive housing and shelters.

AMCL and T&T would like to give a huge thank you to everyone who donated their money and time to this cause! Your efforts and generosity have provided a multitude of girls and women in New York with hygiene essentials that we so often take for granted.

“It was such a privilege to partner with Henry Street Settlement on this drive. The programs and support they offer impact some of New York’s most vulnerable communities, and I look forward to working further with their team. Special thanks to Deanna Sorge for joining our kit packing event and providing valuable insight on Henry Street’s history and mission!”
