On August 14th, the AMCL New York team had the privilege of volunteering with BloomAgainBklyn, a community-based, nonprofit organization that diverts unsold and once-used flowers from the solid waste stream to create uplifting floral arrangements. Their core mission is to reduce social isolation and loneliness within vulnerable populations by creating connections and conversations through repurposed flowers.
AMCL joined the BloomAgainBklyn team on-site at their beautiful Cobble Hill location for one of their Corporate Social Responsibility flower workshops. After learning more about BAB’s history and the communities they help each day, AMCL got to work creating custom hand-tied bouquets and small tableside arrangements for two of BloomAgainBklyn’s community partners – RAICES and Graham Windham. Both are non-profit pillars in New York City, with RAICES dedicated to improving the quality of life for aging adults of color and Graham Windham providing support for children, parents, and foster families alike.
Together, AMCL produced more than 50 arrangements for BloomAgainBklyn’s community partner recipients at RAICES and Graham Windham, and the flowers were delivered directly to both parties the following day. A massive thank you to BloomAgainBklyn’s staff for their help in organizing this event and helping us become florists-in-training!

“AMCL is so grateful to have had the opportunity to work with BloomAgainBklyn! The hands-on floral workshop was engaging and informative, and the staff on-site were extremely welcoming. Their little acts of kindness make a huge impact within some of New York’s most vulnerable communities, and it was a pleasure to be a part of that mission, even for just a day.”
