Empowering Your People helps our clients build foundational knowledge across their organizations, supporting the effective execution of business strategy.

We help organizations maintain and improve the line of sight from their organizational objectives through to delivery on the ground by upskilling their workforces with carefully designed learning and development programs. These are delivered as either individual training courses and qualifications, or through a broader enterprise-wide learning and development program designed in collaboration with the client to understand and deliver specific organizational learning and development needs.

For the individual we offer a range of bespoke and IAM Endorsed training courses in Asset Management, including courses for the IAM’s Foundation Award, Certificate and Diploma.

For enterprise-wide learning and development we undertake a training needs diagnostic, engaging with the client to design a learning and development program to suit their specific needs. This is primarily focused on the existing training materials customized to meet specific organizational needs and requirements but can include bespoke learning and development material created for specific client needs.

Swiss Federal Railways (SBB), 

Switzerland

IAM Certificate courses

SBB is the national railway company of Switzerland managing both the trains and infrastructure across the country. IES was engaged by SBB to provide Asset Management training in both English and German.

Together with SBB, IES developed an e-learning package for the Certificate which has been translated in German. 9 training courses have been delivered following the standard instructor led IES certificate training course. In addition, 3 groups have been trained remotely where the delegates study the e-learning course in German and after each module have a remote Q&A session.

3 more cohorts of remote training are planned where, in addition to SBB employees, there will be external guests from other organizations including OnyxPower from Germany.

Environment Agency

UK

On demand Asset Management eLearning

The Environment Agency is a non-departmental public body, established in 1996 and sponsored by the United Kingdom government’s Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, with responsibilities relating to the protection and enhancement of the environment in England.

In 2020 the Environment Agency awarded AMCL a contract to enhance our existing eLearning course to prepare people for the IAM certificate exam and to include specific Environment Agency examples and case studies.

A full eLearning package was deployed which consists of 4 modules which are supported by live webinars at the end of each module. The total package takes around 20 hours to complete and features interactive components and end of module assessments.

The product is hosted by Asset Management Academy on our Learning Management System (LMS), Litmos. Over 130 delegates have undertaken these training courses and webinar.

Delivery of the AM4 branded enterprise-wide learning and development programs customized to meet specific organizational needs and requirements. Case Studies

Training and education in the world of asset management has been a core service offered by AMCL and its wholly owned training subsidiary the Asset Management Academy (AMA) for almost 20 years. We have a full range IAM Endorsed training courses (offered through the AMA) including face-to-face, eLearning or hybrid delivery, while AMCL provides more bespoke training courses and organisational-wide programmes for clients. Our world-class trainers have a wealth of real-world experience to bring to the materials and gain consistently high feedback.

A client wishes to ensure employees in relevant AM positions gain an understanding of AM principles through Endorsed IAM training with optional internationally recognized AM qualifications.

National Grid Transmission (NGTx), UK

Endorsed IAM Training

NGTx manages the high voltage (132kV – 400kV) electricity transmission network in England and Wales. NGTx recognized the need to develop their Asset Management (AM) capability across the organization and sought recognized training providers to deliver AM principles training.

The Asset Management Academy was chosen in 2012 as a sole training provider for all AM training, based on our reputation within the industry and our formal endorsement from the Institute of Asset Management. Initial demand was for a handful of courses per annum.

Each course comprised our full 5-day IAM Certificate course followed by a 6th day consisting of a morning revision session and an afternoon examination.

Crucially, the AMA was able to provide a hosted examination service for which we supply all relevant hardware and invigilation to enable NG to run the IAM Asset Management Principles examination on site.

Airbus, UK

On demand Asset Management eLearning

Airbus SE is a European multinational aerospace corporation. Airbus recognised the need to develop their Asset Management capability across the organization and sought an eLearning solution which could be accessed through their own internal Learning Management System (LMS).

The Asset Management Academy (AMA) was chosen in 2022 to deliver an eLearning package covering the IAM Foundation Award which was installed on the Airbus LMS.

The Business Development Manager from Airbus commented:

Environment Agency, UK

Aboitiz Power, Philippines

Executive Bries held in Manila

Aboitiz Power is a power company in the Philippines and the CEO of the Thermal business requested a one-day Executive Brief to enable his leadership team to learn about good industry practice and to facilitate discussion on a number topical issues.

The key to the successful outcome was delivering the Executive Brief in person – it would not have been so effective if delivered remotely.  There was very positive feedback from the leadership team – the day promoted discussion between the Exec members and gave them cause to reconsider their strategy and approach on a number of key initiatives, most notably pausing the purchase of a major IT system on the basis the CEO concluded they were not ready as a client to adopt the system.

National Audit Office (NAO), UK

Executive Brief held in London

The National Audit Office (NAO) is the branch of the UK government that is charged with holding other government departments to account through audit to improve public services.

The NAO requested an Executive Brief from AMCL to improve their understanding of Asset Management, in particular lifecycle cost and risks and how these need to be taken into consideration by government departments.

The one-day brief was interactive with all participants actively involved. 

A client has embarked on an Asset Management transformation program and needs to train and embed asset management principles and competencies.

Centre for Energy Advancement through Technological Innovation (CEATI), Canada

Learning & Development Program

In 2023, AMCL and CEATI (an R&D spin off from the Canadian Electricity Association) signed an agreement for AMCL to provide a cobranded series of high-quality eLearning and virtual webinars.

The webinars have been well-attended by CEATI’s members, with AMCL delivering a total of 15 virtual sessions between 2023 and 2024. In addition to the webinars, AMCL has also provided CEATI’s audience with access to the Foundation and Practitioner eLearning courses.

This Learning & Development program has helped AMCL reach several of the most significant power companies in North America. In the past few years.

Transport for London (TfL), UK

Bespoke Training

TfL is a local government body responsible for most of the transport networks in London, UK. This includes the development and operation of multiple transport modes including the iconic London Underground, Docklands Light Railway, trams, buses and taxis. TfL required a trusted training provider to support the Asset Management capability growth within the whole organization.

AMCL have been working with TfL since 2016 to provide a range of training products to support the growth of capability across the organization, with delegates from strategic departments to delivery teams. These products needed to provide industry principles at their base, prepare delegates to take the IAM qualifications of Certificate and Diploma, and also show how Asset Management is implemented within TfL.

They were developed at three levels (Introduction, Principles and Advanced) with the Advanced course covering four main subject areas (information, risk, contractors and change, strategy and planning).

An Infrastructure client has recognized the benefits of taking a whole-life approach, alongside other specific AM competencies and is looking for bespoke, targeted training to support their staff and supplier development.

Urenco

Bespoke Asset Management Training

Urenco provides safe, cost effective and reliable uranium enrichment services and fuel cycle products for power generation.

The Asset Management Academy and IES were chosen in 2023 to develop and deliver bespoke introductory Asset Management training for Urenco’s UK, US, German and Dutch divisions.

A bespoke e-Learning package was developed in multiple languages to introduce the fundamentals of Asset Management and link them to Urenco’s Asset Management system and policies.  The e-Learning package has been designed to work on any Learning Management System that is SCORM compatible.

The Asset Manager from Urneco commented:

I’ve been really impressed with the quality of the information, the knowledge of the content and the additional content for study purposes. The interactive components add a dimension that really helps to drive home some of the principles.

SSEN Transmission

ISO 55001 Auditor Training

SSEN Transmission own and maintain the Electricity Transmission Network in the north of Scotland.  AMA is the training provider of choice for SSEN T, including the provision of Executive Brief’s, Certificate and Diploma training to over 100 members of SSEN’s team.

SSEN T has established an internal assurance team within their Asset Management function and requested AMA to deliver a training course to internal auditors to ensure a consistent approach to internal audits against ISO 55001.

The course focused on the principles of auditing, the needs of an auditor, preparation for an audit program as well as the more technical content of ISO 55001.

The course was delivered over two days for 8 delegates, plus an additional workshop to enable the delegates to prepare a RACI and program for their ISO 55001 audit activities.

This course is now available to deliver to other clients looking f improve their internal audit capability.
